Until now, whether an aircraft could use an airport was decided by comparing two small numbers: the aircraft’s minimum airport size and the airport’s size (0 to 5). From now on, OnAir compares what actually matters: the runway.

- Each aircraft has a minimum runway length, in feet. Aircraft that cannot operate from unpaved strips need a paved runway of that length; the others count the longest runway of any surface.
- Each airport is judged on its real longest runway.
- Helicopters can still use every airport, and seaplanes any airport with a water runway.
- Existing aircraft keep the demands of their former class: no runway needed (0 ft), 2,300, 4,500, 6,000, 7,500 or 10,000 ft.
Where it applies
It applies when you launch an AI flight, transport an aircraft, activate a regular route, and to the freelance jobs offered for your aircraft.
A flight you fly yourself is never refused: the dispatch screen simply warns you when the runway is too short for an AI flight.
Where to find the information
You will see the minimum runway in feet on the aircraft sheet, in the dispatch warnings and with the Apply limits filter in Company Jobs. Airport size is still there: your Min Size filters keep working as before.
A handful of airports change sides, because their old size did not match their runways. Tell us if one looks wrong.
